Lafayette Code Enforcement
The function of this position is to enforce the Lafayette Municipal Code, particularly as it relates to land use and property maintenance. Good code enforcement can improve the quality of our neighborhoods, protect property values and the environment and keep Lafayette a safe and desirable community. Specifically, the Code Enforcement Officer concentrates on the investigation and abatement of complaints involving land use (zoning), housing conditions, abandoned vehicles, signs, fences and general public nuisances. Unlike the Building Department, which enforces ordinances pertaining to new construction, Code Enforcement focuses on existing structures and neighborhood blight. You can find more information about Code Enforcement in the Code Enforcement Brochure.
You may fill out a confidential Municipal Code Code Enforcement Request Form or a Building Code Enforcement Complaint Form online. Note that, the City does not handle all types of issues. Please refer to the table below before for the appropriate contact information for a variety of issue types.
