Congressman DeSaulnier Advances Over $46.7 Million for Local Projects to Benefit Contra Costa and Alameda Counties
Last week, Congressman Mark DeSaulnier announced that he advanced over $46.7 million for 20 projects to benefit Contra Costa and Alameda Counties for consideration by the U.S. House Committee on Appropriations as part of the Fiscal Year 2027 federal budget process. These projects would help to improve quality of life for the people of California’s 10th Congressional District by upgrading infrastructure and transportation accessibility and increasing public and environmental safety.
We are especially grateful the Congressman included these local projects:
- Downtown Lafayette Aqueduct Pathway Project: $2.8M for the City to construct the Brown Avenue to Pleasant Hill Road segment of the Aqueduct Pathway, a fully accessible Class I separated bicycle and pedestrian facility located within the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) aqueduct corridor in downtown Lafayette.
- Sunflower Hill Supportive Housing Project: $2.0M to construct a 48-unit development of supportive and affordable housing for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Lamorinda Public Safety Radio Replacement Project: $936,930 to replace and upgrade existing police radios, a combined total of 65 handheld portable radios and 44 vehicle mounted mobile radios, used by the Lafayette, Moraga, and Orinda police departments.
- Mobile First Responder Project: $1.8M for Contra Costa County to build two mobile communications sites to enhance the resiliency of first responder radio communications in the event of a natural disaster or other widespread threat.
Read about the full suite of projects advanced for consideration on Congressman DeSaulnier’s website.

Road Restriping Project Starts Downtown on Monday
Weather-permitting, starting on Monday, April 13, the City’s contractor, Central Striping Service, will start restriping roadway markings downtown on Mt. Diablo Blvd and continue to Moraga Road afterwards.
Over the next month, we will be restriping on:
- Mt. Diablo Blvd between Mt. View Drive to First St
- Moraga Rd between Mt. Diablo Blvd to St. Mary’s Rd
- Stanley Blvd between Camino Diablo to Barott Rd
- Quandt Rd between Stanley Blvd and Plymouth Rd
And repainting multiples curbs on:
- First St between Deer Hill Rd to Mt Diablo Blvd
- First St between Moraga Blvd to School St
- Deer Hill Rd between Happy Valley Rd to Laurel Dr
- Happy Valley Rd between Cosso Ct to East of Panorama Drive
This roadwork will require some closure of travel lanes with traffic control during certain phases of construction and blocking of parking spaces. Traffic control will generally be in effect between 9:00 am and 2:30 pm. No parking signs should be placed in the area 48-hours in advance of work.
Please keep in mind that restriping work goes fast and often occurs in phases, and once work has begun, it does not necessarily proceed continuously. You will see periods of inactivity between the start and end of the project. Completion of the project is estimated to be in mid-May (weather permitting).
For more information, see the Engineer’s Friday Update. Questions regarding the work may be directed to Senior Engineer Ana Bernardes, 925-299-3209.
