New East End Parking Lot to Open in Lafayette: Ribbon-Cutting Monday, May 13, 4:30 p.m.

Post Date:05/08/2019 1:44 PM

Join Lafayette residents, Mayor Mike Anderson, Vice Mayor Susan Candell, Councilmembers Steven Bliss, Cam Burks, and Teresa Gerringer, other dignitaries, as well as the Chamber of Commerce and City of Lafayette Officials on Monday, May 13, 2019, at 4:30 p.m., for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the City’s new East End Parking Lot.  The East End Parking Lot will officially open for public use immediately following the ceremony.

Providing fifteen metered parking spaces, and one van-accessible handicap parking space, the East End Parking Lot is the newest addition to Lafayette’s growing public parking stock. Located next to the Ace Hardware store at 3311 Mt. Diablo Blvd, the East End Parking lot was constructed as part of a land exchange agreement between the City of Lafayette and EBMUD.

“The City of Lafayette owes a great debt of gratitude to EBMUD Director John Coleman and General Manager Alex Coate for their flexibility and willingness to make these improvements a part of their pump relocation project,” said Lafayette Mayor Mike Anderson. “These additional parking spaces will be well used and much appreciated by the residents of Lafayette,” Mayor Anderson added.

Not only does the East End Parking Lot provide additional parking spaces to serve Lafayette’s East End businesses, but also complies with the latest storm water pollution prevention standards and Lafayette’s clean water program by incorporating a bio-retention facility that treats runoff, removing potential contaminants that enter our creeks, streams and, ultimately, the Bay.
