UPDATE DURING THE CORONAVIRUS SHELTER-AT-HOME ORDER
The City Offices are closed to the public through March 31, 2020, including the Engineering counter.
Engineering staff are currently working remotely, providing most services previously offered during counter hours, including issuing and inspection of encroachment permits, with priority being given to permits for essential work. For updates about ongoing engineering-related applications or projects, directly emailing the engineer or inspector already involved with your project (see staff email contact information below) or, for general inquiries, emailing TKain@lovelafayette.org are the best means of communication at this time.
Essential and emergency projects involving work in the City’s right of way will continue to be issued encroachment permits and receive inspections. Please visit the website page https://www.lovelafayette.org/city-hall/city-departments/engineering/permits-agreements/encroachments for current information on submitting encroachment permit applications during this time of office closure.
City Engineering services are provided using a combination of in-house professional staff and outside resources. Services provided by in-house staff include: administration of the Capital Improvement Program (CIP), including project development, design and contract management, facilitation of community involvement in project development, engineering review of development proposals, and processing improvement plan and subdivision maps for private development. Specialty services for engineering projects are provided through contracts with consultants.
The Department also provides input to other agencies, commissions, departments, and the public on engineering, maintenance, and development matters, coordinates with the Public Works Services Manager regarding maintenance, operations, and repair of public facilities, represents the City's interests in regional transportation and funding issues, administers the encroachment permit program, and provides staff support to the Circulation Commission.
