November 2026 General Election

CITY COUNCIL ELECTION — NOVEMBER 3, 2026

NOTICE OF APPOINTMENT AND CANCELLATION OF ELECTION

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, pursuant to § 10229 of the Elections Code of the State of California, the City Council of the City of Lafayette took action on August 20, 2026, regarding the November 3, 2026 General Municipal Election for City Council offices.

As of the close of the nomination period on August 12, 2026, there were not more candidates than offices to be elected.

The persons nominated and qualified for the offices were:

• James Cervantes — 4-year Councilmember term ending in 2030
• Stella Wotherspoon — 4-year Councilmember term ending in 2030
• Mario DiPrisco — 2-year Councilmember term ending in 2028

On August 20, 2026, the City Council adopted Resolution 2026-50, appointing:

• James Cervantes to a four-year Councilmember term ending in 2030;
• Stella Wotherspoon to a four-year Councilmember term ending in 2030; and
• Mario DiPrisco to a two-year Councilmember term ending in 2028.

As a result of these appointments, the November 3, 2026 General Municipal Election for these City Council offices is cancelled.

The persons appointed shall qualify and take office and serve exactly as if elected at a municipal election for the respective offices.

 Pursuant to § 10229 of the Elections Code, the City Clerk shall not accept for filing any statement of write-in candidacy that is submitted after the appointments have been made.
