Connect Springhill School to EBRPD Briones Parking Lot

Lafayette City Council, at its meeting on March 24, 2025, awarded a construction contract to E.E. Gilbert Construction, Inc., Martinez, in the amount of $218,296.00 to build an 8' wide pathway connecting the sidewalk outside of Springhill Elementary School to the East Bay Regional Parks District’s Briones Staging Area Parking Lot. The former pathway was comprised of failing asphalt, compacted dirt, and gravel. The new pathway is around 500 feet long with a smooth, ADA-compliant asphalt surface. A new fence was also installed along a 300' section of the pathway, acting as a buffer from cars on Pleasant Hill Road. This project was identified in the Springhill Elementary School Rapid Implementation School Safety Plan.

Construction of the project was completed in July 2025.  Before and After Photos of the project can be found HERE.
