Film Production Permit

A Film Production Permit is required if your proposed filming or photo shoot:

• Will occur for three calendar days or less within one calendar year; and
• Will take place on private property, City property, or within the public right-of-way.

A complete application generally includes:

• Film Production Permit Application and Checklist
• Certificate of Insurance
• Applicable fees
• Narrative describing the proposed filming, including:
  • Days and hours of operation
  • Location
  • Number of employees/personnel
  • Number of vehicles
  • Description of the filming activity
• Site plans, maps, or other information as required by Planning staff

Additional permits or fees may be required if filming involves City property, the public right-of-way, street closures, or parking on public streets.

A Film Production Permit application must be submitted to planner@lovelafayette.org at least 14 days before filming is scheduled to begin. Planning staff will review the application within five business days and notify you if additional information is needed. Final approval may take up to 14 days.

A Land Use Permit is required for a film production or photo shoot that is more than three calendar days within one year. For purposes of film production, filming during any portion of a calendar day counts as one day. 

The City strongly encourages applicants to notify neighboring properties within 24 hours of filming.
