Multi-Modal Mobility Advisory Committee
The Multi-Modal Mobility Advisory Committee is a temporary advisory body established in 2026 to provide coordinated community input on a series of transportation planning and design efforts focused on improving walking, bicycling, transit access, and overall mobility in Lafayette.
The Committee will help review and inform several overlapping studies and projects occurring in and around downtown Lafayette, including:
- Mt. Diablo Corridor Multi-Modal Mobility Study (M3 Study)
- Aqueduct Pathway Project
- BART Station Access & Circulation Study
- Downtown Parking Management Study
- Right-Turn-on-Red (RTOR) Evaluations
- Moraga Road Redesign Concepts
- Bicycle & Walkways Master Plan Update (subject to grant funding)
These efforts overlap geographically and thematically, addressing issues such as downtown circulation, access to BART, corridor safety, school and business access, and connections between neighborhoods and the town center.
The Committee’s role is advisory only. Members will provide early-stage input on concepts, alternatives, and draft recommendations before projects are brought forward to City Commissions and the City Council for formal consideration.
The Committee is expected to meet approximately every one to two months over an 18 to 24 month period, beginning in 2026.
Committee Composition
The Committee is anticipated to include:
- Two City Councilmembers
- One Transportation & Circulation Commission representative
- One Planning Commission or Design Review Commission representative
- Three at-large Lafayette residents
Purpose of the Committee
The Committee is intended to:
- Provide coordinated input across multiple transportation studies and projects
- Help identify opportunities, constraints, and tradeoffs early in the planning process
- Improve consistency between overlapping projects and initiatives
- Support development of implementable, community-informed transportation recommendations
- Help strengthen long-term project readiness for future funding opportunities
More information on the Multi-Modal Advisory Committee can be found in the April 27, 2026 City Council staff report.
